"Sometime between when they had gone to bed last night and the sun coming up this morning, the world had shifted beneath them."
"Superheroes were born in the minds of people desperate to be rescued." "You couldn't have strength without weakness, you couldn't have light without dark, you couldn't have love without loss"
Reviews: "This book will take your breath away.... Grade A. " -Entertainment Weekly "Picoult spins fast-paced tales of family dysfunction, betrayal, and redemption... [Her] depiction of these rites of contemporary adolescence is exceptional: unflinching, unjudgmental, utterly chilling." -The Washington Post "Picoult skillfully twists and turns this story in so many ways, keeping readers wondering how things will turn out until nearly the last, satisfying page" -Orlando Sentinel The Tenth Circle is chock full of symbolism and allegory that at times can seem oppresive. Still, Picoult's fans will welcome this skillfully told story of betrayal and its many negative, and positive consequences. -Gisele Toueg
Why I chose the items I chose:
1st Video (Kristy, are you doing okay?): This song reminds me of "The Tenth Circle", because it's about a girl who is depressed. She thinks there is no meaning to her life, and nobody can tell she's depressed except for one person. In the book I'm reading, Trixie gets really depressed because Jason broke up with her, and starts cutting her wrists. Nobody knows for a while. 2nd Video( Jodi Picoult on "The Tenth Circle"): I chose this video because Jodi Picoult talks about how she came up with the idea of her book. After I finished reading the book, i figured out they made a movie about it, and she talks about that. It gives you more of an insight on how she came up with her ideas. Quote 1: I like this quote because it represents the whole book in a way. Trixie and her family's lives change within a night, and the quote basically means everything about them changed in one day. Quote 2: In the book, Trixie's dad is a comic book artist. The talk sometimes about superheros, and in a way Daniel is a superhero to Trixie. He took the blame for Jason's murder when the cops thought Trixie killed him. Trixie and Laura saw him as a superhero to them. Daniel was going through a hard time in his life when everything with Trixie happened, which relates to the quote because he sort of turned into a superhero in his familys eyes. Quote 3: This quote also relates to the book, because through all of the Stone family's weaknesses, it only made them stronger in the end. It brought them closer which was what Daniel wanted in the beginning. Also, Daniel and Laura's marriage was going bad, but it only made them stronger.
